Rotary E-Club of the South, USA

The world’s first civic service organization, Rotary International, is expanding into the Internet. The Rotary E-Club of the South will join RI’s global association of 33,000 Rotary clubs in more than 200 countries and geographical areas.

The Rotary E-Club of the South, USA plans to attract business and professional decision makers. The club joins Rotary’s global network of volunteers in enhancing their communities and promoting international goodwill through club projects, scholarships, cultural exchanges, and grants for development and humanitarian projects.

“Rotary was founded over 100 years ago in Chicago, and now its influence can be felt around the globe. Rotary’s achievements provide an inspiring record of men and women of all races, religions, nationalities, and creeds who have made significant contributions to create a more peaceful world.”

The Rotary Foundation, the philanthropic arm of the association, awards millions of dollars each year to worthy projects carried out by clubs and districts working locally and in international partnerships. The Rotary Foundation also sponsors the world’s largest privately funded international scholarships program. Since 1985, eradicating polio worldwide has been Rotary’s top philanthropic goal. Rotary’s US$200 Million Challenge is The Rotary Foundation’s response to $355 million in challenge grants from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation for polio eradication efforts. These grants represent a tremendous validation of the approach and success of Rotary’s PolioPlus program.

Founded in 1905, Rotary is an organization of business, professional, and community leaders united worldwide to provide humanitarian service and help build goodwill and peace in the world. Rotary clubs are nonpolitical, nonreligious, and open to all cultures and creeds.

Longtime Rotarians agree that involvement is the key to getting the most out of membership.  Volunteer to serve on a committee that meets your interest or to join a service project team.  These activities will help you get to know your fellow club members and better understand the work of Rotary.

Rotary members meet weekly to build friendships and plan service activities.  Rotary clubs are autonomous and determine their own service projects based on local needs, the interests and abilities of members.  If members miss a meeting of their own club, they are encouraged to expand their Rotary horizons by attending a meeting either here at Rotary E-Club of the South or any other Rotary club in the world.

Rotary clubs are nonreligious, nongovernmental and open to every race, culture and creed.  Club membership represents a cross-section of local business and professional leaders who share the common value of Service Above Self!
